The Mariners top four starters apparently will be lefthanders Marco Gonzales, James Paxton, Justus Sheffield and Yusei Kikuchi.

Trivia: Of those four lefties, who was the only one who was NOT a Baseball America Top 50 prospect?

Answer: James Paxton, who peaked at No. 52 on Baseball America's Top 100 list in 2012. Gonzales peaked at No. 50 in 2015, Sheffield at No. 27 in 2019 and Kikuchi at No. 45 in 2019.

I must admit it will be cool to face the Yankees with both Sheffield AND Pax in the rotation. Hopefully they both pitch against them back to back and we win both games.

I know that in general lefty starters are preferred but what is the downside of having too many. Or is there a downside?

Kikuchi has the arm of a Cy Young winner but the confidence of a baby deer learning to walk.

I like it, IF he's healthy. If they could bring back Walker along with Pax, all of a sudden we have legitimate potential for a pretty damn good rotation.
Yeah, get Taijuan!!!

.........and..........

Danny Hultzen - I double dare ya, Dipoto!!! :D :D :D

To Hultzen's credit, when he has pitched, he's been damn good lol.

Actually more than I thought. 356 guys have 0.00 career ERAs. The lowest career ERA higher than 0.00 is 0.52 for Austin Maddux of the Red Sox.

Career WHIP of 1.8, allowed 4 of 5 inherited runners to score. None of the 6 batters that he allowed on base before being replaced mid-inning scored.

Lucky guy.

Probably shorter LF ballparks like Fenway and Minute Maid. I’m thinking the rotation cycle would have to be scrambled a bit for 3 game sets in each, unless it’s BOR RH turns in the regular cycle.
