He also said we had a better chance of seeing Mathers own fatass in LF instead of Kelenic cause of the time thing. Think Kris Bryant vs the Cubs but on a way larger scale and out in the open public
We don't know that. He was talking mostly about guys like Julio, Hancock and Marte "who were never going to be playing in 2020" that were on the taxi squad mostly.

What he did was explain the position of the franchise, so they fire him and find a guy that can keep his mouth shut?...ok, that really doesn't change a thing. But if they can sell that to the fans go for it

Yep. It's sad people are defending Mather. He has done possibly irreplaceable damage for the foreseeable future
If they step up to the plate and dismiss this fool, I could forgive them. I don't know about others, but myself personally would be in good standing with the Mariners
There were some things he said that were definitely stupid. I think that some is way overblown though, and I think it culture has become one that likes for offense in everything. I havent seen the whole thing, but have read the transcripts about some of it, so If have to dive deeper to have a better sense of all of it, but I do think there is some overreaction to some of the comments.
I recommend watching the entire video. Like I've stated before, we all know he messed up badly, otherwise why would the guy need to issue a formal apology after making national headlines? Some may not see this as a big deal or "overblown" as you say, and that's fine. I respect you, and you're thoughts. We've had many of great discussions here on this forum. I'm not going to cast judgement towards any of my fellow posters on what they should or shouldn't think is right. We are all entitled to our own opinions. Its part of the reason that makes this forum so great and successful.

Every national sports writer over every platform is calling for Mathers to be fired. His comments could literally sink this rebuild. Are you okay with that?

what he was doing was explaining to the rotary how the Mariners run their franchise, that is what's so fascinating about it. He gave really a very insightful view of it, sure fire him, but that isn't going to change what he was talking about. Because up until he spilled it they were perfectly happy with it. Firing him gives the fans their pound of flesh but that's it.

Here are the things I read. Talking about the Dominican and other Latin (is that a PC term?) players. He was saying they did a lot job of preparing them and taking care of them previously, and they are doing much better now. I didn't see anything wrong with that. Could he have said it better, sure, but I looked at it as him taking about trying to do right by those players.

As for Julio, he was mostly really complimentary of him. He shouldn't have focused on his language, and I can see why that would hurt as Julio is actually doing a really good job with English relatively. Of course it's not perfect.

As for service time. That should have been said better, but as I mentioned above, I think he was mostly taking about the prospects that were still in A ball or even lower that were with the Taxi squad. Everyone knew they weren't going to bring them up. He should have been much more careful talking about this though with regards to Kelenic and Gilbert who are closer to the MLB. Everyone knows what's happening, but you can't say that publicly.

The Iwakuma comments, I still don't understand exactly what he was saying there, and that was the worst comment of what I read.

He should be fired for disrespecting JRod and Kelenic for one. Neither of those guys are probably thinking about us long term anymore
How did he disrespect Kelenic. And while his comments about Julio were poor taste, and contract unnecessary, they weren't horrible. Of course his language isn't tremendous, he just stayed learning it about a year ago. But for his age and experience, it's relatively really good. He should have focused on that rather than pointing out that a 19 year old who is learning English as a second language isn't perfect.
Was putting down Kelenic for not signing the long term deal they offered and said they wouldn't start him Opening Day because of it
Give the quote of where he disrespected Kelenic sunce you are making the accusation. He even said there was a good chance Kelenic made the right choice.

the Iwakuma deal sounds like a poor effort at a joke to me, there is a context to the deal

To me it came across as arrogant and smug. Seemed like he was painting the picture of the team already being done with Kelenic cause he wouldn't sign for chump change
If that's what you thought his position was based on what he said then there's something wrong with your ability to comprehend.

Definitely a sharks smelling blood in the water aspect to it. The woke crowd are like Piranhas and my guess only bones will be left by the end of day today.
