How did he possibly offend White, Marco, Walker, or Torrens? Has the meaning of the word offend changed without me realizing it... well maybe it has

With White... he basically said that White was sort of a sucker for taking the deal despite the MLBPA telling him not to.

With Marco... well you never want to out what happens in a clubhouse of a pro sports organization. Fans probably like that he stood up to Leake, but I'm not sure Marco wants it out there that he's the guy that has to fight those in the clubhouse who aren't all in.

With Walker... he basically said Walker was kidding himself expecting a 3-year deal and they were expecting him to come begging... again, Walker can't love that his talents are construed this way and out to the public.

Torrens... he doesn't even know how to pronounce the kid's name... imagine investing that little time into the players you work with.

Sounds to me like Mather's English isn't "tremendous".

I will channell davidGee and say that I'm surprised that he didn't say we were going to score a lot of points this year or that there's going to be a human umpire behind home base even when there's an electric system in place.

He didn't mispronounce Torrens name he I thought it was spelled Torres. He expects 20 year old kids from the Dr to speak perfect English yet he can't even remember the names of the 25 guys on the roster.

I think that his comments on Service time were ultimately harmless and taken completely out of context by most. He was clearly talking about the younger players, but even mentioning it gives the players association ammo on their side at the next negotiations. That alone probably pisses off the other owners, even if he wasn't talking about Kelenic, Gilbert and others that were closer to the MLB. He should be smarter than that, and I'm sure that alone is cause for firing from the other owners perspective. The players union is probably giving each other high 5's because of it.
