They must feel that there's more upside with Polanco than with Ryan Bliss, and that's probably right.
Or at least having both is a better safety net, in their opinion.

Unfortunately we know that $7M buys Polanco at least the whole first half of the season of at bats even if he struggles again.

I honestly thought they would do a one year bridge player in Whit Merrifield then bring up young latter in season.

I had zero thought on Polanco. I thought he’d struggle to make it back in time for ST.
Our only hope is he fails the physical. If he passes the physical and misses the 1st 6 weeks of the season I will laugh so hard. Jesus Christ Merrifield is even worse than Polanco. lol
He is. That’s why I thought they would do something just to do something.

Hopefully Bliss surprises us and Polanco gets a lot of bench time.

Unrelated. Bliss is the 2B and Polanco the 3B.

Fucking disgusting. Literally the last guy in all of baseball I wanted. Now we get to see that shit show at least until July instead of one of young guys.
Seriously if this is the result they should have just kept Rojas. It's a clownshow over there.
They are paying him DOUBLE what Rojas would have cost.
Rojas was complete shit. Not that I’m excited about Polonco, but Rojas was one of the worse hitters in baseball after his hot first month. .186/.272/.281 from May 14 through the rest of the season while primarily playing a platoon. I’d take Polonco any day over Rojas.
The poster formerly known as Kingfelixk. With a new forum comes a new boardname. Julio is my guy, plus we share a birthday, so that's Culiooooo

Agree with that but signing Polanco is worse than doing nothing and going with a Solano Shenton Platoon.

They are paying him what he was due to make on the option (given the buyout too). He's healthy now.

And seeing as how I advocated for picking up the option, I like this move. Always wanted him over at 3b. Time to see more of Bliss at 2b

To all who hate it... what would you have done instead? What amazing move really moves the needle for you?

Literally doing Nothing would have been better. So ya sure he is healthy now? Are you an orthopedic surgeon or did ya just stay at a Holiday Inn last night? So he has been an injury riddled cripple his entire career but just needed that one little minor knee surgery and he will miraculously turn into Cal Ripken Jr. now lol And if he was injured last season why did he keep playing while he sucked? Cost the team the playoffs if so.
