I'm not letting them off. Just saying I don't want a 5th starter FA which is what they are likely focused on right now.bpj wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 11:22 pmWe don't have enough internal options for a #2 starter.D-train wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 11:18 pmAgree. Use the money for bats. We have plenty of internal options for a 5th starter.SeattleSportsRUs wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 10:37 pmWhy in God's name would the Mariners want to bring Tyler Anderson back. That loser blew the season for us with his last 2 starts. He had a 4.81 ERA for the M's.
Maybe the M's should also be looking at Erasmo Ramirez too? Why not Mike Leake while we're at it? They're both F/A's fully capable of sucking as hard as Anderson.
Why letting them off the hook easy when they have the ability to write another check and do both?

He has said they're looking for 2 SP's, but I'd prefer Brash over another #5 signing also.
The Mets have Degrom/Scherzer, we're not set at the top of the rotation imo.

We need 2 more bats. It would be fantastic to add Bryant at third or Olson at first or Seiya in left or even Schwarber at Dh, Even another trade of Reynolds, Contreras, Ramirez or Marte. We simply cannot be done at this level.
Bro, I was fucking being sarcastic

I think Flexen is a legit number 2. 18th in MLB in ERA and 27th in WAR.
Brash and Kirby are both ready to see what they can do. They aren't going to build any more value sitting in AAA. I think you have to either give them a shot or trade them.

Agree but we are less set in the lineup. I doubt they are going to sign 4 impact FAs so I would prefer the next two be bats.

Re: We got Ray
Brash yes but Kirby won't be ready by mid season given he only pitched 67 innings. Williamson probably close though if there is an early injury.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 11:34 pmI think Flexen is a legit number 2. 18th in MLB in ERA and 27th in WAR.

Yeah, I hope there's some good reporting on how this went down. I mean, having just won the Cy Young, why would his own team let him go and sign Gausman instead? Maybe he just didn't like Toronto? Not a fan of Tim Hortons?
Re: We got Ray
We've already got to be getting tight on the 40 man roster.
If they do the right thing and add one more pitcher for the top of the rotation, we would have 5 guys signed for at least the next 3 years which should make guys like:
Kirby, Hancock, Brash, Williamson..
available to trade for offense. If bats don't want to sign here, sign pitching and trade young pitching for bats.
Sign Rodon, trade for J. Ramirez, sign Suzuki and sign either Conforto or Schwarber and it's an easy contender.

Nice move for a TOR SP with a team-friendly contract.
Re: We got Ray
We are seriously anemic offensively with only Haniger with consistent pop. Seaver’s dingers have not been replaced. There is work to be done. You’re not out of the woods yet Jerry
