Win Prediction contest

I am pulling this down here since we are about down to it. I will update this after every game. The record is what is required the final 16 games to win. JP is down to a .705 OPS. I don't need to worry about it. Nor do several others that are the only ones to pic a certain win total.

Yeah, JP would almost have to go 0-for the rest of the season to drop to .681 and, I'd rather he got hot.
Getting to 91 wins is feasible if my GT win streak were to continue , BUT, seattlefan-daBronx and techmc, who both also picked 91
(both buttholes because I picked 91 first so that's MY number signed, Karen) wins stand to be closer to JP's OPS than me.

Teams that win 54% for an entire decade don't win 54% every single year. Some years there lower and some years they pop and are higher. Its those pop years when you have the best chance of winning it all. 54% should not be your goal at the beginning of the year. Since the year 2000 World Series champions have averaged 94.7 wins for a .585 winning percentage. The only team to win a world series below .540 was the Cardinals in 2006.

which i pretty much verbatim what dipoto said in the first place. My point is people construe 54% as being mediocre when in fact its a pretty good season as well as a pretty good decade. that's the thing about baseball, there isn't a lot of winning to be done in the first place

There is definitely not a lot of winning by teams the have never been to the WS or that have 20+ year playoff droughts.

my point is there isn't a lot of winning for teams that do make the playoffs generally either, I really find it kind of fascinating. 54% is BS, that's 88 wins? What about 92 wins? That gets to be considered a successful season doesn't it? So the difference between success and mediocrity is four wins over a 162 game season. There's something about that i find crazy
