A large portion of the voting public do rely on low food prices. The idea that we can continue to see low prices in spite of raising the minimum wage, forcing farmers to not only pay higher wages to workers but to provide union driven benefits is ridiculous. I would guess that government regulation of the farming business will get to the point where it will be more the government running the farms than private corporations and families. We all know what political system favors government control of essential industries and that’s where we are headed.IStillLoveTheMs wrote: ↑Sun Jun 27, 2021 4:48 amI'm not reliant on lower food prices thankfully.Fungo wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 11:49 pmThey are no more reliant on it than you are reliant on lower food prices.IStillLoveTheMs wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 7:18 pm
Won't happen cause conservatives have gotten used to hiring people at poverty wages... they're in fact reliant on it... but there's the crux of your problem.
And food prices are more or less regulated by the government...not to mention that massive subsidies are given to farmers. There are price controls (floors/ceilings) mandated by the government that keep foods within a specific price range... they typically impose price floors when it comes to agriculture but rest assured there'd be price ceilings if people ever attempted to jack prices.
I have a hard time believing that the government would allow supermarkets to raise prices on food to the point where the essentials are unattainable. And yes, that includes a hypothetical time where you get rid of migrant workers who make zilch in pay from their Republican employers.

Dude, once again, you are a total joke. If you think that conservatives are the only people that hire illegals to save a buck you have no credibility at all. There are as many left-leaning rich that hire illegals to save a buck.IStillLoveTheMs wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 7:18 pmI'm just saying... you want to get rid of the problem of undocumented immigrants?bpj wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 7:10 pmFarmers rely on who will work for them like anyone else.
Strawberry blonde white boys don't like manual labor anymore. They'd rather golf or surf and live off the government teet.
The right is trying to force millennial losers to work by forcing out the illegals. As if that would get them to accept manual labor positions.
Force farmers to quit hiring em. Force construction companies to quit hiring em. Force the hospitality industry to quit hiring em.

Seriously, if you are going to make extremely broad strokes with your beliefs, you should do a little research.....at at least be a little more realistic.
As for farmers and construction crews with illegals, there are already hefty fines if the government catches them with illegals, so it isn't like the government is encouraging them to hire illegals. so if there are already laws in place, how would you FORCE them to comply?

Re: Being racist under the guise of Anti Racism
How about significant prison time for those hiring them and, oh, I don't know, mandating eVerify? How is eVerify racist?
What bugs me the most is that illegals take jobs away from our own citizens. And what is the largest demographic of those unemployed? Young, African-American males between the ages of 18 and 30. What is more racist than this? Hiring illegals instead of Blacks?
Then again, where are most of these illegals on Sunday morning? Catholic Masses. Why doesn't the Catholic Church approach the government on behalf of their parishioners to begin making these people legal citizens? Then too, it isn't as if the Church cannot help to defray the costs of becoming a citizen and perhaps the government could reduce the costs as well. Certainly having legal citizens benefits all involved. Especially since citizens pay more taxes and put more money into the local economies.
