So he was unlucky with the Astros and lucky with us. Makes sense. Once he settles into a normal ~.300 BABIP he should end up at about .270-.280 BA on the season.

I would imagine it ends up around 0.300 but he does consistently put it in play hard

On the season Toro has a .267 BABIP which is ranked 254th out of 339 guys with 150 PAs. Pretty unlucky. The median BABIP is: .293

What happened to Castillo? I thought he was the new closer.
Our bullpen is so good, we don't even need him to be.

Looks like maybe they're done moping. Or, the bad luck turned a little.
Then why make that trade? Shenton was more than a throw-in for a guy they don't even trust to take Graveman's place.
Hey, I agree, it seemed reactionary.

At the same time, his K rate blows Gravemans- and of course Chargois'- away, and we have him for 3 more seasons, so, we'll see.

We really haven't had a traditional closer this season. Even with Graveman there were times where he pitched the eighth because the heart of rhe order was up for the opponent.
Yep those days are over and that is actually one of the progressive baseball ideas that makes sense.
The Closer and the save have always seemed odd. So, your setup man faces the 3, 4, and 5 hitters in the 7th or 8th and that is somehow less important than the Closer getting three out against the bottom of the order in the 9th? The Mariners and many others have started using their best in high leverage situations, regardless of innings...and why not?

I think the last series has proven you need someone to close in the 9th

Yeah its amazing that it took so long. I think when the idea of the closer first came about, starters would go 7-8 innings 90% of the time and the closer just closed the out the game. The idea of the set up man came later.

Check this out, the 1977 M's only had one reliever, Bill Laxton, that pitched more than 6 games and didn't start any games. Romo was a reliever but started 3 games. Really only had two true relievers that pitched in a significant number of games. Man, how things have changed.

Any think Mitch will do jack here? I do not.
We've played the entire series pretty much without him. Is it true that he was hoping he'd get traded?
Based on my quick research, its Fake news. Who knows, maybe he really did want to be traded but I couldn't find anything to support that and Bounty's link suggests otherwise.

Sorry if I offended anyone by pointing it out but part of my role as moderator is to question possible misinformation. Easy way to avoid it in the future is just to post a link.

Thanks.
