Rodriguez and Marte were both international signings. Can't compare them to hs draftees. Mariners weren't in position to draft Kelenic, they got lucky to trade for him. Add fat as Cowan and Rizzo, I think Fraley, Lewis, Walton, Shenton are all better prospects and all were college position players.AT Fresno wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 4:13 pmWe have no real monster pitchers in the system.... but a lot of role players and mid rotation potential. From Logan Gilbert to Joey Gerber, lots of major league potential. Still believe the M's should focus on high school position players to build the system..... our top rated players... Kellenic, Rodriguez, Marte, and solid prospects like Rizzo and Cowan came to us at 16 to 18 years old. ... Houston's lineup comes primarily from getting position players through the draft.... their rotation for the play offs.... Verlander, Cole, Grienke.... did not come through the draft....rather investment on proven players.... Money spent on procuring elite position players is debatable.... ie... Cano, Harper, Machado...? I say load your system with position players through the top rounds in your draft.... follow the minor league system and major league system for pitchers.... ... I think that would be the best strategy moving forward
Pick the player you think has the best chance to make an mlb impact, period. Whether position player or pitcher, college or HS
