JP should bring JK & Geno with him too. Why not. It's so funny how people continue support this inept Franchise. Like why? Seriously why? I get so sick of the casual fans. Like were all here because were bleeding diehards that just wanna win. These casual fucks could give 2 hairy shits. Stop with buying tickets, stop with buying merch, like seriously. The more we hurt them at the gate the more they might start to come to their fucking senses. Those Oakland & White Sox losses came back to bite us big time. You can get to that magic number of 90 wins you stand a good chance to get into the playoffs if not win the division. Just frustrated, very frustrated like everyone else on here.
I believe JK spent some time their last off-season. Isn’t that where he got the weighted bat?
No, he worked with Tim Laker and Craig Wallenbrock.

Remember, Donn. MLB says we have a "natural rivalry" with San Diego! A team in the other league! If MLB would put a team in Portland or Vancouver and in the AL, then there would be a rivalry. But until then, how many of us get worked up about the Padres?
Stanton would rather take a blow torch to his balls than allow another team in "HIS" PNW territory. He wouldn't even allow a NBA team in his neighborhood.
For a guy who is supposed to be smart about money, he has no clue what a local rivalry would mean to his bottom line. How many butts are in the stands for games with the Padres?

And you would think a rivalry with the Padres is a big deal what with the number of times it's mentioned by announcers over the entire season!
As for real rivalries, I thought nothing could rival the M's and Yankees, especially after those awesome playoff series.

I'd much rather watch the M's play two series in New York, and at Fenway, every year, then watch any interleague games.

No rivalry there at all.

As for revenues, think of all the guaranteed sellouts the team would get having Boston, Toronto, and the Yankees, play here Twice a year.

What, an extra, 400,000 fans?

Minus the scant crowds for SD, AZ, or say, CO.

So why still support this team. People just need to get their heads out of their asses & face fact. They don't care. This ownership group does not care. Stop buying tickets. I'm shocked at the amount of sellouts. Stop buying their crap. Just another reason I can't stand Seattle.

While spending doesn’t guarantee success, not spending almost certainly guarantees lack of success.

SS, JD, Stanton. Is there a more classless organization in sports? Who would want to play for these morons?

Stanton is 68 years old and is quickly becoming one of the most hated men in Seattle. He has more money than he'll ever know what to do with. His kids and grandkids are set for life. He clearly doesn't care about winning and lacks civic pride despite being a Seattle native. What's his motivation for continuing to own this team versus retiring on a beach of his choice?
I think because he is a businessman and not a baseball fan he takes overemphasizes the importance of the non baseball aspects of the org to make himself feel more important and powerful because that is what he controls. People like that aren't beach people. They would go nuts doing nothing.
I have a friend who grew up with the Stanton family, coached his kids and has his phone number and calls him on occasion……..He claims John wants to win it all………

I call bullshit on this. Simply because like you said.He is a business man not a baseball guru and he controls the checkbook.

Yep, and they should drag Evan White along.

Jerry doesn't like sunken dollars, they'll need to do something with Evan... $15M over the next two years.
Why I just don't understand why. If people treated this team like Boston treated their teams, we'd be a lot better off. Hold their feet to the fucking fire. This passive bullshit we've seen for years has to end at some point. Let's the fans have a voice. This team needs real ownership. Question is, where can you find a better owner at this point. One who cares about winning.
Yes, agreed!

The question the media should be asking at this point is if Dipoto had more payroll available and chose the players they went with.

Or, if the payroll was maxed out and he fit in the best players he thought he could.

Personally I think it was all Dipotos choice and he could have spent a good amount more if he wanted to.

I know a lot of you think ownership had him on a budget.

I just don't think so. Would love to know the truth.
I agree 100% I think Jerry feels that he's smarter than the majority of the GM's and that he can trade and draft his way there. But he needs to wake up and realize that Free Agency is just as valuable of a tool as the others are. You don't need to spend the MOST money, but you do need to spend a hell of a lot more than what you have been.
