Here are the splits:

JP
Home: .841 OPS 145 wRC+
Away: .793 OPS 123 wRC+

Julio
Home: .781 OPS 119 wRC+
Away: .850 OPS 131 wRC+

There it is. JPs average of the two is 134 and Julio's is 125. Almost identical to the actuals of 134 and 126 due to some other minor factor like rounding or something for Julio....
Very interesting. Have always thought that looking at a players Away stats is a pretty good indicator of what type of player they actually are, without the benefits or drawbacks of their Home park factored in.

If somebody told me that Julio was a 131 wRC+ player and JP was a 123 wRC+ player I wouldn't even question it. Seems about perfect.
Right. JPs home OPS seems massively fluky. I could see it going back down to 700-750. Sure enough!!!!

He SUCKED at T Mobile prior to this season.

His Away OPS only went up about 40 points over his career numbers and his Home OPS was about 200 points higher than his career average in T-Mobile.

Hopefully he's figured out how to use the home field to his advantage to that degree.

Sure seems a bit fluky though. But at least he improved all around some either way.

WAR-Rank-10th in MLB-Difference
C 5.3 4th 3.0 2.3
1B 0.5 23rd 2.8 -2.3
2B 3 17th 4.5 -1.5
3B 3.2 10th 3.2 0.0
SS 4.9 7th 3.8 1.1
LF 2.3 16th 3.4 -1.1
CF 5.9 2nd 4.5 1.4
RF 1.8 22nd3.6 -1.8
DH -0.1 22nd 2.6 -2.7

Used the Fangraphs rankings to confirm where the team was terrible this year. Hard to read the copy/paste from the spreadsheet.

To decipher: Catchers had 5.3 WAR which ranked 4th in MLB. The #10 ranked team had a 3.0 WAR at catcher, so our catchers were +2.3 WAR at the catching position compared to the #10 team in MLB.

So, basically, we were positive at C/SS/CF. That's it.

Our DH was 2.7 WAR below the 10th ranked team.
Our 1B was 2.3 WAR below the 10th ranked team.
Our RF was 1.8 WAR below the 10th ranked team.
Our 2B were 1.5 WAR below the 10th ranked team.
Our LF were 1.1 WAR below the 10th ranked team.

Same positions we've been complaining about for years.
