If the M's were thinking about 3/60 for Walker...

5/$125-$135 wouldn't be too much of a stretch for Alonso who is 3 years younger.

I'd much rather give Alonso $25 million a year who has a chance at 40+ homers and a .850+ OPS season than $12 million to someone like Santana.

Or perhaps its a repeat of last year where guys sign last minute for short-term deals with opt outs... maybe he'll take a 3-year $75 million with an opt out after 2025.

Agreed, if they were willing to go anywhere close to 3/60 for Walker, then going 5 or 6 years for the guy who is 4 years younger makes much more sense imo.

Zero downside to adding that bat to the mix. Even just replacing Castillo's salary would almost pay for all of Alonso. Then add Sasaki and your team's much better.

I would do it but the Brewers probably wouldn't unless they focus on Locklear's success in AA vs. everything that happened after he was promoted to AAA MLB.

Then again, Steamer projects versatile free agent first baseman Ty France with a 2025 wRC+ of 107 and 0.7 WAR in 81 games:

I don't think the M's let France go solely b/c of poor performance.

I think they let him go because he was aloof and seemingly didn't care as much as he should have.

Walker, Goldschmidt and Santana are off the board thank goodness, leaving Alonso. We'd be idiots NOT to go aggressively after him. So of course we won't.

All the guy does is goof off... before the game acting like a 12 year old playing little pranks like hitting people's hats off... jumping for high fives b/c he's short... At 1B, chumming it up with anyone and everyone he could while they're losing 8-2 and he's 0-4 with 3x weak grounders and a K.
