According to this article, Seattle is the 12th most expensive in terms of housing...in all of America. I'm actually surprised it's only 12th. Funny that all these States seem to have something in common, like a lot of Blue.

Orange County, where I lived for 27 years (I'm now in Los Angeles County), is about 50/50 red/blue. Honolulu's and San Diego's politics are pretty much irrelevant as they're awesome places to live.

What surprises me is how expensive Brooklyn and Queens are. Do a Zillow search on houses for sale in those two boroughs, pretty much every one of them you'd be all, no way in hell would I live in a dump like that. Not to mention the apartments you see depicted on TV and in movies, you're always expecting to see a chalk outline like in Coming To America.

Yeah, kinda an interesting list, i was surprised as well with Queens snd Brooklyn. My brother lived in both areas in the 80s-90s. Id stay there occasionally over the years. He was married with a pair of kids and those were the areas to find affordable housing in NYC back then.

I'm not so sure it really matters about the area, or how nice it is to live there. All those States are considered blue. No coincidence.

Orange County is not like LA county - it's a world away and is much more into law and order and "conservative" I suppose. "Non-insane-leftist" is more apt. I would be surprised if it wasn't red. No 'protests' happening in Newport Beach or Laguna. Lot's of vocal Trump supporters for sure. I've seen trump rallies all over LA - even in BH. Never seen a Harris or Biden rally - literally - ever.

Lots of red areas in Orange County, probably most prominently Huntington Beach. Areas of the Inland Empire are like that too.

According to ABA poll - 12% of businesses looking to leave Washington due to crushing taxes.

A full 61% of employers who intend to move out of state point to Washington’s tax burden as their main reason. In the broader survey, 52% of all respondents named the overall tax burden as the biggest challenge facing their business, and 43% said reducing taxes should be the state’s top priority to help them.

Apparently washington has a $16 BILLION dollar deficit. Wrap your mind around THAT figure. Then, ask how many billions have been lost by businesses leaving due to the rampant crime allowed during covid? The clean ups from all the nonstop rioting. All the lawsuits from the 'summer of love"? All the taxes and income generators - gone. The result? The shit-for-brains "governor' trying to add 5 new taxes. FIVE. The absolute best part? That idiot trying to blame washington's deficit on Trump. Couldn't POSSIBLY be insane policy, right? Couldn't possibly be Dem incompetence. Nah, 5 new taxes, businesses leaving in droves because "Trump."

Also, let's not forget - the Dems are the party of "vote for us and we will give you free stuff" like allllllllll the illegals getting free food, clothing, shelter, visa cards - alllllllllll that is paid for by YOU. There isn't 'someone else" the bill magically goes to it is LITERALLY you. They literally opened the border to entice illegals entering to vote for them (remember the "voter ID is racist" nonsense they peddled? lol) - and that bill is now due. You would have to be a complete idiot not to see how this works. The new taxes are a direct result of that egregious policy - combined with the insane covid/constant rioting policies - and the 'trickle down' effect is businesses leaving and even fewer jobs - resulting in another tax. Anyone not clear on the math? And the dems are blaming Trump.

I don't follow the state budget that closely but the deficit seems driven more by spending having increased almost 40% in 4 years. There has been no decline in revenues. We need a stronger, more reasonable Republican Party in Washington to be part of a solution.

Ignore the social and fiscal costs of the loss of safety.

Ignore the cost of the chazz and all those rioting lawsuits.

I think you have it covered pretty well. The thing I don't understand is why you are talking to the brick wall, also known as donn. He has never learned anything, has trouble comprehending what others post and typically doesn't add to any conversation outside of the Mariners section. So as much as I liked your post, I know it has fallen on deaf ears if you expect donn to understand.

And in Washington, the tax the didn't pass, but our Governor Supreme wanted, was to tax unrealized capital gains. What in the flying fuck could cause investments and other forms of investment to tank as fast as that. Talk about committing suicide by tax, this would do it. All I can say is that, thank God our ultra-liberal congress in this once-great state of Washington had enough smarts to not pass that portion of the new tax law.
