Regression lol. So in your opinion Cal is the same hitter he was last year and the year before and the first 100 games were a massive fluke...
We're talking about this season aren't we? It's not a fluke, but on the hand did you expect him to go the season without a slump?
I think this slump can be explained as the impact of mental and/or physical exhaustion and ameliorated by time off. (Just as i type this Cal gets a 2-run single).
might be or on the other hand, it could be entirely coincidencal
Participating in the Home Run Derby does not inherently lead to a slump. While some players experience a dip in performance after the event, multiple sources suggest that the derby itself is not the cause. The perceived "slump" is often a result of normal statistical variation and regression to the mean, rather than any negative impact from the derby.

Feeling better about this team SoB?
Yes, they aren't letting mediocre players play.

I'm always nervous about pitchers after they have to sit for 20 minutes

Kirby’s not quite it it together this year. Hope he does by the end of the year.

I chalk it up to the time away and knocking rust off. Hopefully he's back to his normal self to close this year and then next year

I heard the australian dude talking about Kirby's adjustment this year.
What happens is when he's behind in the count or gets into trouble he is so accurate that his pitches end up in the center/middle of the plate.
So he is purposely trying to hit the corners/edges and ends up giving up more walks vs. hits with the ball over the sweet spot.
Sounds reasonable I guess. Give up the walk instead of the run(s).
