Re: Mariners @ Mets GT 8/15
Sorry i don't follow the team that closely but is Mastrobuoni injured?
Re: Mariners @ Mets GT 8/15
No, No, and they explored it but just couldn't get it done. And Miller should be back soon.seattlefan-daBronx wrote: ↑Fri Aug 15, 2025 3:52 pmOn a side note.....what do you guys think about Logan Evans.
Granted there was a rain delay yesterday.
BUT...he's been crappy lately.
Do we really have no one else to put in that 5th starting role???
Again, couldva wouldva shouldva been an area to explore at the trade deadline I'd argue.
A veteran 5th starter role to at least give us a shot of winning a few games until playoffs when you don't need him anymore.
Just saying.
Emerson Hancock anyone?!?! Is he any better?
Re: Mariners @ Mets GT 8/15
The big thing with him was the jump in velo. Last year he was sitting mid 90's and peaking 99. When I have paid attention this year I see him hitting 93-94. According to:GL_Storm wrote: ↑Fri Aug 15, 2025 5:37 pmI'm encouraged by his use of secondaries in yesterday's game. Mariner pitching orthodoxy emphasizes 4-seam fastball and sinker (2-seam fastball), but for Evans those pitches aren't good enough to throw 70% of the time, and so I like that he was trying something different. Unfortunately, most of his secondaries aren't that great either, at least not yet. But, throwing them more and getting that feedback from hitters is presumably part of the process. His cutter and changeup right now are the most encouraging.seattlefan-daBronx wrote: ↑Fri Aug 15, 2025 3:52 pmOn a side note.....what do you guys think about Logan Evans.

I see Evans as a very likely trade piece in the offseason. I think a lot of teams will find him interesting, even as an unfinished product. And he could really benefit from going to a team that isn't so stuck on throwing fastballs and more fastballs and then even more fastballs. If he doesn't get traded, we could see him settle in for most of the year at AAA, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see his game step up a notch, making him a prime candidate for a deadline deal.

He maxed out in March with 97,4 MPH but is down to a max FM in August of 95 and average velo has gone from near 96 in March down to under 93. I am wondering if he is hurt, or ,,,.
Re: Mariners @ Mets GT 8/15
I've noticed that with all the young guys when the Umps fk. them they throw little hissy fits and end up fking themselves and the team. Woo, and Kirby, come to mind in particular.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Fri Aug 15, 2025 7:07 pmYeah, he's an unfinished product for sure. But there's a lot to like too. We're used to these guys coming up and being awesome right from the get go, but that isn't how it usually goes. One positive with Evans that sticks with me is that he doesn't get flustered on the mound, even when he's getting shelled. Compare that to Kirby, who loses his shit and acts like a fucking child when major league hitters do what they're supposed to do.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Fri Aug 15, 2025 6:38 pmEvans' slider has been a disappointment for me. It has a negative run value and that was supposed to be his calling card.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Fri Aug 15, 2025 5:37 pm

His only good pitch this year has been a cutter... his sinker and curve ball have been getting absolutely railed.
