It won't feel meaningless if after 5 and a third perfect, Gilbert goes full on Gilbert, walks two and gives up a three run bomb and we lose by one run. My guess is our opponent isn't going to start their second or third best option, so runs might be at a premium.

It will once its Woos turn on Day 4 and instead of facing their #1 he's up against their #4.Michael K. wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2026 6:32 pmIt won't feel meaningless if after 5 and a third perfect, Gilbert goes full on Gilbert, walks two and gives up a three run bomb and we lose by one run. And Gilbert isn't exactly minced meat.

Did they ever determine precisely what was wrong with Woo's shoulder during the playoffs lasf year?

Great question, I'd forgotten he shut down.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2026 7:51 pmDid they ever determine precisely what was wrong with Woo's shoulder during the playoffs lasf year?
That's probably enough reason alone to ease his workload a little bit by burying him in the 4 spot in the rotation.
Hopefully it was nothing... but hopefully one of the writers asks about it.

So, Woo is going from possibly starting day one to starting day four? I think he's our ace, but I don't think he was ever in line to leapfrog over Gilbert or Kirby. And probably not Castillo.Michael K. wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2026 9:01 pmSo, Woo is going from possibly starting day one to starting day four? Good enough reason seems to be because by the time we got to the playoffs, he needed to be shut down.
It probably doesnt even mean any fewer starts, they could come back from the all star break on whatever schedule they want.

To me this is the way it's usually done. I think there's a clubhouse aspect to it. Woo is going to be happy not stuck ahead of Kirby at this point in his career. I think you want it to clear that Woo has risen to that level before putting him ahead of Kirby.
It still irks me that after trading for him, they gave Bédard the opening day start over Felix breaking his streak
