How is it possible that, after 27 seasons of playing baseball there, the Mariners organization has not been able to pinpoint precisely what suppresses offense at R-Mobile and take steps to mitigate it.
They figured that moving the fences in would help, but that probably was detrimental as while home runs increased a bit, the field got smaller and easier for fast outfielders to cover. Not to mention the franchise's philosophy on hitting.

I looked up how Ichiro did in his career in Seattle to see how a pure base-hitter like him fared. In his 12 seasons as a Mariner he hit better at home six times and better on the road six times.

Michael, you've got to read the whole thing, not just yawn and fall asleep after the first sentence like Mr. Bean. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bh__g-ZZ6WA
Sorry, you also included the season that Cal turned into Johnny Bench and A-Rod as examples of why hitting here should be fine. So, it is as if Barry Sanders and Walter Payton rushed for 100 yards in a game against a defense and you used it for why that defense is bad.

Then you add in Edgar. Again, all amazing hitters having amazing years. How the fuck does that prove your point that hitting here should just be easy if they opened their eyes and swung!? Again, dude, you are better than that. Please, read below. 30th out of 30 is what this stadium is to hitters. But David believes that all they have to do is try harder.
T-Mobile Park suppresses overall offensive production by roughly 9% to 11% compared to the rest of Major League Baseball, earning a multi-year overall park factor around 91 (where 100 is neutral). This makes it consistently the most extreme pitcher-friendly environment in the majors, inversely rivaling Coors Field.
Ballpark Factors and Run SuppressionOverall Park Factor: T-Mobile Park regularly grades out at or near 30th in overall MLB offensive friendliness.
Hit and Run Inhibition: Hit factors generally hover around the 89 mark, meaning base hits are roughly 11% harder to come by than the league norm.
Strikeout Environment: Statcast metrics point to T-Mobile Park acting as an intense strikeout-heavy venue, with strikeout park factors climbing to roughly 113 (13% higher than average).

Home vs. Road ERA Splits
Rather than looking at a single static ERA number for the park, the suppressive nature shows up dramatically in stark home/road splits for pitchers. For instance, pitching staffs in Seattle regularly post home ERAs that skew more than a full run lower at T-Mobile Park compared to their numbers on the road (such as historic home/road variances of 2.73 ERA at home versus 4.27 ERA away)

Ichiro. Hall of Fame.
A Rod. Would be if he didn't Roid.
Judge. One of the best hitters of this generation.
Trout. See above.
Cal. Had a season like no one since Johnny Bench.

All reasons David believes that hitting a baseball here should be easy. Dude, stop.

I didn't say or even remotely imply that it was easy. My point was that while it's more difficult to hit at T-Mobile, there are players who are capable of hitting reasonably well there in comparison to how they hit everywhere else. If it was absolutely impossible, guys like Trout who hit for a 1.100 OPS at T-Mobile would be hitting for a 1.200 OPS everywhere else...and yet he doesn't. Same with those other great players.

But let's drop our standards to select non-superstar players.

Willie F. Bloomquist, .658 career OPS, .619 at T-Mobile
Jose Lopez, .688 career OPS, .667 at T-Mobile
Yuniesky Betancourt, .673 career OPS, .720 at T-Mobile
Franklin Gutierrez, .719 career OPS, .723 at T-Mobile
Kenji Johjima, .721 career OPS, .689 at T-Mobile
Miguel Olivo, .691 career OPS, .653 at T-Mobile
Dustin Ackley, .672 career OPS, .660 at T-Mobile
Mike Zunino, .676 career OPS, .679 at T-Mobile
Ben Gamel, .716 career OPS, .755 at T-Mobile
Ty France, .747 career OPS. .767 at T-Mobile
J.P. Crawford, .701 career OPS, .678 at T-Mobile
Josh Rojas, .667 career OPS, .692 at T-Mobile
Randy Arozarena, .782 career OPS, .770 at T-Mobile
Luke Raley, .740 career OPS, .802 at T-Mobile

Look, most players hit worse at T-Mobile, some much worse. But it's not guaranteed. Hitting at T-Mobile at least close to the level you hit elsewhere can be done and these guys have done it.

As I was doing this, I looked up Chone Figgins and saw that he was terrible hitting at T-Mobile before we signed him. Did Jack Z even know how to look up stats on the Internets?

Not sure what your goal was here. To prove that sometimes an average hitter can still hit average in Seattle, or that sometimes Super Stars can still hit like Super Stars in Seattle. My point was that of thirty major league ballparks, this one has proven to be the hardest one to hit at, so it seems like a strange debate to go into some of the few starts that hit like stars and some other mediocre players that still hit pretty mediocre here.

Are you debating this isn't the hardest place to hit? Because I am sure missing the point. I never said it was impossible to hit here. I said it is really hard to hit here and it messes with these guys. I believe that point has been proven over and over again.

Ownership doesn’t seem to give 2 shits how the batters eye looks to hitters. In fact they just might like it stupidly thinking it helps it being a pitchers park. They just had how many old all stars at the park and you would think that a couple of those old boys would know how to fix it.

Ive pointed this out before, no dipoto isnt looking up stats on the internet. Thats because mlb front offices have much more sophisticated ways to analyse players these days than things like home and away splits. With Statcast and AI they can now create entire seasons of a players performance at bat by at bat and apply them to the conditions of any baseball stadium. Thats what they are doing, they arent looking up fangraph splits. The tools have moved way beyond that

You've pointed it out before.

Then we've proceeded to watch the players the forum knew would fail, fail, when Dipoto put his eggs in their basket. And the forum turns out right.

Dipoto and his team of dopey nerds don't know shit that we don't Donn. They suck ass, and it couldn't be more obvious. They're not a team of brainiacs. They're idiots.

Sure, maybe they should. But its not just a mariner thing. I think you walk into any FO these days and bring up fangraph splits and youd get a cool stare. Its an arms race like anything else.
