The study certainly seems to shed doubt on the notion that a moderately large proportion of incidents of black drivers being pulled over is simply due to their race. That said, the number of times blacks are pulled over is probably considerably more than 20% greater than whites, but that is largely because in those areas with higher black populations it is more likely that the police have to generate revenue through traffic fines because tax revenue is inadequate to fund them, so they are pulling everyone over more. And the Stanford study was not skewed by these determinants because it analyzed the statistics for police departments independently. So, the question we should be asking is what explains this 20% differential? Is it possible that it has more to do with a correlation of higher crime rates of the black population with higher traffic code violation rates than it does with straight up racism? Of course it is, and anyone interested in seeking out the truth would consider that possibility rather than condemning all police as racially motivated brutes.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 11:56 amno idea what you are talking about, but its what you are basing that claim on...okaySibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 10:47 amIf Michael Bumpus was white, he only would have been pulled over 34 times!

IMO, a win would be that it remained peaceful. That would show some unity. But, that just can’t happen. Whether it is ANTIFA or people just looking for an excuse to do bad shit, it just can’t stay peaceful. Not to mention, there could be twice as many peaceful as violent, and the media wouldn’t portray it that way.
I don’t think there can be a win, to be honest.

Maybe more blacks are pulled over because they don't keep up with car maintenance and have a tail light out. The majority of "protesters" don't want peace. Quite the opposite.Michael K. wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 3:49 pmIMO, a win would be that it remained peaceful. That would show some unity. it doesn't shed doubt on anything, what it does is confirm that blacks are indeed pulled over more often than whites based on color, something that they have complained about but hadn't been acknowledged. You seem to now be willing to admit that its true but that blacks complain about it more than they should, which makes no sense to meSibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 2:40 pmThe study certainly seems to shed doubt on the notion that a moderately large proportion of incidents of black drivers being pulled over is simply due to their race. That's a sign of poverty, and people at the low end of the economic scale of all races are pulled over and ticketed more than others. The study independently looked at data from various jurisdictions, but within a given jurisdiction there can be a wide racial disparity in economic standing, so that may have been a contributing factor in that 20% pull-over differential.Double Mocha Man wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 4:35 pmMaybe more blacks are pulled over because they don't keep up with car maintenance and have a tail light out.
