Hardly....We know nothing yet about the last three we drafted.... could be like three before we drafted from college....... Danny Hultzen, TJ Walker (no he was high school) Phillip Aumont, Josh Fields? Are you kidding?
Felix, our best pitcher never attended college, Kerry Wood, CC Sabathia, Josh Beckett, Adam Wainwight, Zack Grienke , Scott Kazmir, Cole Hamels, Matt Cain, Madison Bumgarner, Clayton Kershaw, Lance Lynn, and Chad Billingsley are all memorable high schoolers who became all stars...
The last few high school hitters we drafted flamed out? Which ones... Ken Griffey, Alex Rodrigues, Adam Jones, John Mayberry Jr.?
Our college hitters were worse... Jeff Clement, Matt Mangini, Dustin Ackley, Mike Zunino, DJ Peterson....
Other teams have done well drafting high school hitters also.... Mike Trout, Christian Yelich, Josh Hamilton, Jason Werth, Jay Bruce, Joe Maur, David Wright, Prince Feilder, Billy Butler, Justin Upton, Andrew McClutcheon, Jason Heywood, and Manny Machado all became all stars.... Lets see what happens with Jared Kellenic, Juan Soto, and a bunch others...
Honestly, I don't see your argument at all....

Ugh, I wasn't thinking ahead. Lose the base and those cutouts might stay in the recycle bin for a few years before they start trickling back in.Double Mocha Man wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 8:09 pmHow would you do that without losing cardboard cutout fans in the stands?DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 6:03 pm
That said, it would be so awesome if the organization announced that it was tanking the season just to piss everyone else off, especially every time they lose a game. Seriously, DO IT.

Still hate that they're teaching these young kids to be losers.

That is a great article Donn, I am a little skeptical simply because of the sample size. If the level of performance continues it provides them with Marco, Kik as above average starters.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 3:57 pmsee this thing on the new and improved KKD-train wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 3:13 pmOk, I am officially in the FUBAR for Kumar camp. I would prefer a hitter but Kumar seems to stand out high above the rest. Other than Crawford, Klew, Nola, Moore, Marco and Seags, this team really sucks.
Good news is we are tied for the #2 spot!

Kikushi has a 2.08 fip and his ERA is over 5, I will go more with the fip he is over a K/inning 9.4/9 His HR rate is 0 and his h/9 is down to 8.2/9 from 10.7/9 BB up slightly.
I get the Fubar for Kumar thing but I think getting a Kikuchi established as a key piece is (HUGE) 3 starts FG has him at 0.5 FWAR. Cherry picking because BWAR goes off of ERA vs fip but I agree with the underlying stats even more so because they are backed with data that supports them being dependable vs some sort of luck run. Kikuchi developing something between fip 2.08 and xfip 2.79 that is Ace level performance.
There are plenty of young players that can develop: Lewis, JP, nola, Dunn, Justus, not to mention Seager, Marco, Walker,. That said we have an Ace up our sleeve for keeping top 10 maybe even top 5 and that is a leaky BP. The opposite of the ''Diaz-effect'' these BP guys have let almost all the runners they inherit score which has inflated the starters ERA, and loss totals. Another thing we have going is injuries Haniger not being on the club is painful penciling in Lewis and Haniger plus one of Moore, Lopes is not bad at all vs I thing I remember several Dee, Mallex, Marmelejos-Lopes combinations.
Murphy-Nola was looking like a world beater, ola has a 185 OPS+ but has been paired with the not Murphy twins who both have an OPS in the .200s
A 60 game season it is possible for cluster luck shell games to mask strengths and weaknesses. This is by far not the worst team in M's history but .350 is our worst so far a pace for 22 wins but our current .313 win rate has for a sub 19 win total.
