A nice selling point. Royals, are you listening ?D-train wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 9:46 pmSpeaking of successful surgeries, it looks like Shed's hand eye coordination is much better after his surgery.AT Fresno wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 8:21 pmFance has been spanking the ball all year, first with the Padres, then with the M's.
Trammell was the number 5 prospect for the Padres and a top 50 prospect in all of baseball.... He gives the M's incredible outfield depth in the farm system... Only Kelenic and Rodriguez are rated ahead of him.
Anthony Munoz was slated as the Padres future closer, pitched in twenty or more MLB games before his Tommy John surgury. We all know how successful Tommy John has become over the last decade.... many if not most of pitchers recover stronger than before and Munoz was clocked many times over 100 mph even up to 104 mph before his procedure...
And Torrens has done a fabulous job stepping into the number one role behind the plate. This for Nola and a couple of veteran relievers, neither of which are vital to the M's future plans...
This has not been a good trade.... this was a fleecing, a great trade that may turn into a franchise changer...

The options are unlimited. Anyone else notice he looks like a more refined version of Smoak?

Re: Tiny sample size but France has been good defensively
His swing is smoother, and more level. I always thought Smoak had a hitch in his swing just to elevate contact. I’ll gladly trade Smoak’s switch-ability for France’s discipline.
Re: Tiny sample size but France has been good defensively
Could easily be brothers. Look more alike than Kyle and Corey.

I'm sure it can still work out for the Padres, trade from depth and all, but I think its a top 2 Dipoto trade.
Re: Tiny sample size but France has been good defensively
Dipoto is much better trading for a rebuild than he is trading for a playoff run. I'm worried instead of signing free agents, he's going to start using the minor league depth to try to bring players to help contend.

Yes it makes me nervous that you, bpj and I all know his weaknesses better than he knows them himself.

Re: Tiny sample size but France has been good defensively
If he can bring back legitimate studs, thats one thing, but trading a bunch of stuff for a #3 starter (who never made a pitch for your team), or a 2B that you are going to try to make a CF isn't going to get it done.D-train wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 2:39 amYes it makes me nervous that you, bpj and I all know his weaknesses better than he knows them himself.

In other words you think we should fill the few remaining vacancies with stars and let the young guys continue putting up 0 to 2 WAR for minimum wage instead of paying $7 mil for a guy that may or may not do anything.
I agree.
