Bill send me some of those drugs are on those numbers or whackedBil522 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 11, 2020 11:32 pmOnce again, you are full of crap. look at his Yankees Away numbers from 2019-2020bpj wrote: ↑Wed Nov 11, 2020 5:52 amDJ has benefitted from hitting in Colorado and New York.
His career numbers are pretty brutal away from the hitters home parks. Sub-.700 OPS for his career in AWAY games.
He's a guy I'd be wary of huge production dropoffs if he doesn't have a friendly home field.
2019: .318ba .359obp .459slug .818ops
2020: .306ba .361obp .398slug .759ops
He doesn't need a home park to hit and at 32 he teaches our guys how to win because he is a leader and winner....something the Mariners are currently lacking.

Re: DJ LeMahieu To Reject Qualifying Offer
didn't bpj predict Betts wasn't going to be able to put up the same numbers in Dodger stadium?
Re: DJ LeMahieu To Reject Qualifying Offer
Tell them where I'm wrong? I already posted a screenshot of his ACTUAL numbers, I'll include the link to Fangraphs so you fan check his numbers yourself before you come back and let us all know what I was wrong about.Bil522 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 11, 2020 11:34 pmBPJ is wrongAT Fresno wrote: ↑Wed Nov 11, 2020 3:26 pmJeff Cirillo revisited? His career wRC+ is 87 in Away games. Do you understamd what that means?
I'm not making "projections". I said what his career numbers are. Sorry you can't accept facts.

Re: DJ LeMahieu To Reject Qualifying Offer
So I said DJ hits better at home and Bil wants to talk about 2019, one of his best seasons certainly. I don't think that keeps up, and I'm not paying up for it.
Perfect example to prove my point, although it was one of his better seasons in Away games as well. But no comparison to his Home numbers.
Don't pay based on how he hits in Yankee Stadium and in Colorado. Pretty simple.

bpj still thinks they'll regret that contract as much or more than the Carl Crawford contract.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 1:41 amdidn't bpj predict Betts wasn't going to be able to put up the same numbers in Dodger stadium?
He's a Dustin Pedroia, Ian Kinsler that's going to excel for a few years before his team is going to have to make some hard decisions.
Yes, he's definitely not the type of player I would trade for or sign for big money.
Compare those three for yourselves. He won't be a star for long. Guys that size fade fast.

Re: DJ LeMahieu To Reject Qualifying Offer
Mookie Betts has a career .895 OPS with 5 gold gloves and 4 silver sluggers in 6 full seasons.
He was on pace for a career-high 48 HR's in the shortened Covid season.
Ian Kinsler and Dustin Pedroia never once had a season where they hit at or above .895. Betts has as many gold gloves as both of them combined, playing a premium position (they were 2B's).
Mookie Betts is exactly the kind of player you should pay.

Re: DJ LeMahieu To Reject Qualifying Offer
He's definitely not hurting them right now. But he's also a right fielder, not a 2B. Much more offense is expected in RF. He will be a disaster at some point.IStillLoveTheMs wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 3:11 amMookie Betts has a career .895 OPS with 5 gold gloves and 4 silver sluggers in 6 full seasons.

Your argument about Betts being at the premium position doesn't fit the narrative you think it does. It means his bat is compared to other RF's making him less impressive than if he actually did play 2B. Same thing that made Ichiro a good defensive right fielder. He was being compared to players that are stashed in RF because they can hit. For the sake of comparison, that .895 OPS would have ranked him as the 9th best right fielder in 2019. Congratulations, you just paid $27M for 2020 and traded some farm players for it on the backside of his career. Not this guy.
Betts is valuable until he inevitably starts hitting his weight like all little fellas do eventually.

Re: DJ LeMahieu To Reject Qualifying Offer
Baseball reference gives three comparables for Betts as Josh Hamilton, Matt Kemp and Andrew McCutchen. The Dodgers are on the hook for $365 million. Good luck fellas.
Re: DJ LeMahieu To Reject Qualifying Offer
Somewhere, yet to come to light, is a more-encompassing analysis statistic comparing 'technical' player value (the current measurements of offense and defense) with 'market' value (measurements of that player's worth viewed against current market situations, in terms of trade or sale value, revenue influx value to franchise 'face' and advertising, etc.) and 'medical' value (the player's health index, as measured by past injury history and future injury potential based on aggressive hustle, defensive position liabilities or risks, things like that). Within that statistic, as with all stats, are inflection points that point to when the optimum value of a player waxes and wanes.
I suspect most front offices have an empirical means of doing this, perhaps with some minor variation between them. All we as fans can do at the moment is look at the first leg of that analysis (technical).
