It is incredible that people in the industry can be so apart when it comes to projecting things.D-train wrote: ↑Sun Nov 09, 2025 8:07 pmOnce again Experts = Idiots The are only saying that because it makes sense with zero regard for how we operate in terms of risk aversion and budget.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sun Nov 09, 2025 5:27 pmhttps://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-free-agent ... 23-mlb-1-B

ESPN thinks he'll get just 5 years $80 million. CBS thinks 6 years $140M. MLBTR predicts 8 years $180M. The Athletic thinks 8 years $150M.

Tells you what a crap shoot he is. Believe me if we signed him I would be happy and maybe I am just dining on sour grapes because I know we won't. I am thinking something like 5 x $20MSeattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sun Nov 09, 2025 8:20 pmIt is incredible that people in the industry can be so apart when it comes to projecting things.D-train wrote: ↑Sun Nov 09, 2025 8:07 pmOnce again Experts = Idiots The are only saying that because it makes sense with zero regard for how we operate in terms of risk aversion and budget.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sun Nov 09, 2025 5:27 pmhttps://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-free-agent ... 23-mlb-1-B

Re: D-Trains Off season plan
To be honest, I'd still rather have Naylor at first base. The reason is simple. He puts the bat to ball. And with this lineup, with the propensity to strike out at the rate that they do, having somebody that can consistently put the ball in play, helps immeasurably, as was shown. It could very well be that Okamoto is that player, but there's no track record yet. And this season is too important to have a chance taken. I'd rather put the money where it can be spent with the knowledge of being spent safely. Just my $0.02...D-train wrote: ↑Sat Nov 08, 2025 5:37 pmTrade Kirby and Peete for Skubal. Tigers get 3 years of a good TOR starter and a high upside OF prospect. M's get a year of the Ace of Aces.

Trade Arroyo for 25 yo Abner Uribe. How cool to have a guy named after the inventor of baseball who is also a lights out reliever. 1.67 ERA, 2.75 FIP and 90Ks in 75 IPs. Brewers get a kid who has absolutely raked his entire minor league career and is very close to his big league debut despite a hiccup late in the season in AA. I would be happy to add more to get this done.

Trade JC and Celesten for Donovan and Joshua Baez, a 22 yo RH OFer that had a .883 OPS in AA last season. Perfect replacement for Randy in 2027. Obviously Donovan would play 2B.

Re: D-Trains Off season plan
Yes Naylor is the way to go for sure in terms of proven commodity and especially a guy that can hit in T Mobile and that is the most likely outcome. I have faith in Oka due to his 11% K rate which is insane for a power hitter albeit in Japan. He also has GG defense. Naylor isn't close to that.
FAR more likely they go with Naylor but Oka is a good fall back. Would be great if they signed them both and put Oka at third. Think Geno if Kd every 9 PAs instead of every three PAs.

Also, I don't want to toot my own horn or anything. But offlast season, I called for Josh Naylor and Brandon Donovan to be traded for.
