They still need a WR2.
Josh Downs, Brian Thomas Jr. Only names I've heard mentioned. Still would prefer edge personally. DT where you at my guy.
I don't see them adding anyone at WR...it just doesn't make sense. They have guys already that they aren't using. This offense is fine, IMO, with the WRs they have. What sense would it make to bring in someone else that is going to want the ball?

JSN has 78 targets. Shaheed and Barner are the next closest at 29, Kupp at 26, then Holani at 14. They would be 7 and 0 without boneheaded turnovers. Why trade away anything of value for someone that is going to be targeted about twice a game? The guy that is fifth on your team in targets averages 2 a game!

I posted this in another thread, but it really grabbed me.

"When Nelson gets on the field, he's mean. There are countless social media clips of him destroying some unsuspecting defender. At the combine he calmly described himself as a nasty player and said his goal for his opponents was to 'take their will away to play the game'."
OKay. I got wood a little bit there.
Mean?...Seriously? The guy is a cream puff

Shaheed is WR 2. People can bitch and moan all they want but that's what he is. This offense is also predicated on heavy TE usage. We are getting good production from Barner - it's a shame Arroyo went down. People fail to understand a run-first offense doesn't have 4 Jerry Rice's at the WR position. It would be insane to allot resources that way. Do we want another $20 milllion asset getting two targets a game? Makes NO sense. This is not the run 'n gun. No, instead that $$ was just allocated to the getting the top guard in the league. This is a physical-based offense - who also happens to have arguably the top WR in the game. As much hand wringing as there has been around here about Shaheed - he is the #2. Seems to me it's time for Horton to get more involved while Shaheed recovers - all in concert with Price and Charbs coming back - all of which should really unlock this offense's potential for the stretch run.

ALl these other pieces people want us to "trade for right now!" will be available in the upcoming draft - where Seattle has a LOT of capitol. This isn't the Lambs where we have to sell the farm for this season. This is playing the long game - smartly - whether or not people understand that JS is NOT leveraging the future for today. It's not necessary. This team is probably 6-1 without the turnovers - it's not lack of talent on the roster that has us at 4-3 and trending up. Adding a "WR 2" makes no difference - it's the TO's that have hurt - literally nothing else. All that said, if JS finds the right deal on any talent - he will pull the trigger.

So is Taylor still on the table. Arroyo out for season. Could they still target a TE. Goedert perhaps. Charbs for Taylor? Charbs in unknown this year. Pass Rush still has to be an option. Hoping Chargers go into sell mode.

I don't know if i'd call a 3rd and 5th pennies for a rental. If they can extend of re-sign him then definitely a good deal. They must not have been happy with Zabel''s lack of improvent this year.
Zero chance he doesn't get resigned. That would be a JS priority- obviously. He's not an idiot. Probably already in talks with the agent to gauge cost. I can see something like a four year extension for 65/75 heavy on bonuses to keep it cap friendly. Yeah, they got him on the cheap. Remember that we have a lot of draft capitol this year. There is a good chance we lose bradford to someone like the jets who will make him the highest paid lineman in the league

Do you really think JS isn't playing the long game here? This is a great move. Like when we picked up shaheed last year and he turned out to be invaluable to the SB run. It was a game changer. This could be too.
That was my first thought. JS didn't make this move unless it seemed very likely they could work out a deal down the road.
If Nelson leaves in FA the Seahawks will get a compensatory 3rd round pick. Why does the trade need to turn on re-signing him? They are getting him basically for free

When has JS ever pulled off one of these trades and NOT resigned the player? Both Nelson and Bradford will be FA - he is not onbly hedging his bets here - he has the chance to put the oline in the convo as one the the league's best with a Nelson extension. Hard to tell if you are being serious with this. We don't need the third round pick more than we need an all-pro guard that can literally bolster the left side of the line for a good 3-4 years.

But yeah, if we get outbid, then we are only out a '28 5th rounder - so either way JS wins this trade. Hard to imagine Nelson coming here and NOT wanting to resign. Seattle is one of the top destination franchises in the league - SB window wide open. A few weeks at the VMAC and he'll be a lifer.

Where did anyone say "the trade turns on resigning him?" Resigning him is the OBVIOUS move here - for both sides.

Michael and Aurora - i understand what you're saying, but if JSN gets injured they're left with very little. Having a second receiving threat would open things up more for JSN, not less. I thought Horton could be that guy but for some reason he isn't getting the opportunities. I wojld say trade Shaheed in the deal but with that contract forget it. Maybd trade Horton if they're not going to use him.

I just don't see where re-signing nelson enters the thought process at this point, JS picked up the best guard in the nfl for a fifth round pick two years from now.

Why? Seems a no brainer to me. Re-signing him is an different discussion. JS will deal with it when the time comes.

or if Rasheed is injured they use both Rasheed and Horton? JSN is on a record breaking pace, they aren't giving Horton enough touches?

I just read an article on ESPN that has the Hawks as the first candidate to land Taylor (which I don't think any of us sees as realistic at this point) and the second candidate to land Bucs' DE Yaya Diaby, but wouldn't neither of these two fit under the salary cap? My guess is that you'd have to throw in a player and can't just trade draft picks for either player.
